Maori® Massage
Maori® Massage is a deep-tissue, structural technique inspired by the ancient traditions of New Zealand’s Maori people. It is an energetic, rhythmic and powerful treatment designed to address muscle blockages and deep-seated tension, promoting overall rebalancing of the body.
In Maori culture, the body is an expression of one’s identity and history. Every physical tension is linked to a past experience, a repressed emotion, or an unexpressed conflict. Massage thus becomes a tool for liberating the body and, consequently, for bringing emotional relief.
The Maori® Massage was codified and developed by DIABASI® through a study of the traditional techniques and energetic principles of indigenous culture. It is characterised by the use of natural wooden tools specifically designed to adapt to different areas of the body.
The pressure may be firm but is always adjusted to suit the individual. The treatment targets muscles, tendons and joints, helping to restore posture and release chronic tension.
It is particularly recommended for those suffering from chronic tension, poor posture, muscle stiffness, a feeling of deep fatigue or energy blockages. It is also suitable for those who play sport and are looking for a structural and toning treatment.
The Maori® Massage:
• relieves deep muscle tension and stiffness
• improves joint mobility and posture
• stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation
• promotes the elimination of toxins and metabolic waste
• reactivates vital energy, combating tiredness and fatigue
• supports the immune system through systemic stimulation
• helps release emotional tension held in the tissues
• increases vitality and body awareness
The Maori® Massage is a full-body treatment, but it can be tailored to the client’s specific needs by focusing on particular areas of the body. It does not involve the use of large amounts of oil, as the technique emphasises firm pressure and deep muscle work.
